Back in the 1970’s, if your single Mom couldn’t find a babysitter…you went with her. So I went with her to some college art classes that she was taking at Black Hills State, which was a teacher’s college back then.
I remember three classes that she took me to. Two were life drawing, and one was pottery…
Fast forward to 1990, when I was enrolled myself at BH, which had just grown enough to become an accredited State University.
I should have never been admitted. Although my SAT scores were very high, I also got a 14 on my math skills! I have since come to understand that I probably have some neurodivergent ways and never could have graduated…I also partied to much that year. Chalk that part up to youthful experience!
Fast forward again to 2025 (35 years later…I looked it up)…I donated a painting that I had created…a BioEnergy Painting in the emerging genre of Energy Art, a field in which I am a pioneer from 2013. And the University accepted it. It is hanging in a place of prominence.
Named “Black Hills Mists”, it is about possibility. You never know fully what’s in the mists, so the possibilities are endless. As they were, and still are for me…and for you as well…
No, I didn’t graduate my Alma Mater. I was able to go on and contribute in a way unexpectedly dreamed of.
Never stop believing…
